A portion of the proceeds from The Americana Festival 2010 (including all CD sales) go to The Hospice of San Luis Obispo County Supportive Music Program.
The Supportive Music Program is designed to allow individuals and families experiencing terminal or life-threatening illness access to live music provided by volunteer musicians. San Luis Obispo musicians volunteer their time and talents to bring music into the homes, hospitals and skilled nursing facilities in our county.
We know how music lifts our spirits and invigorates us when we are in a healthy state, how much more the use of music has been successful as an aid to stress and pain management, improving comfort and increased relaxation, and it serves as a tool for life review and reminiscence.
The application of Supportive Music has been deeply profound for the clients, families, caregivers and the musicians who provide soothing music at the bedside of the terminally ill, play instrumental music for patients in a hospital ward, or share popular and familiar songs with bed bound residents in a skilled nursing facility.
Donated monies are used toward the continued education and support of the volunteers in the Supportive Music Program.
